WELCOME TO THE 2009 – 2010 School Year at
Abbeville Elementary School (AES)!!!
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I take great pride and pleasure in being the new principal at Abbeville Elementary School and look forward to a great school year. We, the faculty and staff, will work diligently to ensure that our learners will continue to make improvements in their academic and social development.
We are happy to report that AES made Adequate Yearly Progress this past school year. We want every learner to be successful and exceed the expectations set by the state of Alabama. AES have many programs already in place such as reading and math interventions, Alabama Math, Science and Technology Initiative (AMSTI), Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI), and Accelerated Readers (AR).
Plans are underway for increasing technology in the classrooms. Our intentions are to equip classrooms with interactive whiteboards for teacher and student use, update the computer lab, and to increase the number of student computers in the classrooms. We are also looking to purchase a computerized software program designed to address the individual needs of each learner through assessments and activity in the program. The program will be used in the lab as well as in the classrooms.
Parents/guardians, we need your continued support at home as we work hard at school to prepare your child for the next grade level. I encourage you to stay in close contact with your child’s teacher and develop a close working relationship that will help strengthen your child in the academic and social learning processes.
