Required Summer Reading List

Grades 1-8

We believe in the importance of recreational reading to enrich your lives and to build fluency and comprehension skills for all students. The summer reading assignment should be an enjoyable activity.

All students in Grades 1 through 8 are required to read two books (one Fiction and one Non-Fiction) from the Required Summer Reading List. We encourage you to read books from your independent reading level. After reading the two books, the students will complete an assessment on each book. The two assessments will be turned in to their  new Homeroom Teacher by August 17, 2007 which is the end of the first week of the 2007-2008 school year. All students will be awarded credit for the two assessments during the first nine weeks.

The Reading List and Assignments are being given to each student in the Henry County Schools and are available on the school websites.

We encourage you to utilize your local public library for access to books on this list.
