AES will be having a Sixth Grade Promotion Ceremony at Abbeville High School’s Gymnasium on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at 9:30 am. Students are asked to come to school. They will be transported to and from Abbeville High School. This program will serve as the Fourth Nine Weeks and End of the Year Awards Ceremony. Invitations will not be issued as all students are encouraged to participate.

We encourage you to review your student’s grades and stress the importance of putting forth maximum effort these last weeks of school. Please review how your student stands academically in each subject.

In addition to grades, each 6th grader must be free of money owed to Abbeville Elementary School. This includes library fines, lost books, damaged textbooks, lunch accounts, etc. Please be sure your child is cleared of all monies owed. The fee for participation in the Promotion Ceremony is $25.00, including the cost of 6th grade dance, dance/ceremony set-up, refreshments, guest speaker, clean-up and other costs associated with the ceremony. This fee is a nonrefundable fee. All monies will be paid to Ms. Norwalk, 6th Grade Mathematics Teacher.  All permission slips should be returned by Tuesday, May 16th.

Girls are to wear black pants or skirts with a white blouse or black and/or black/white dress. Boys are to wear black pants and a white dress shirt. Dark ties are encouraged but not necessary. Please remember that the dress code, as set forth by the Henry County Board of Education, will be in effect for this function.

We hope that you and your student will take part in this memorable occasion. Please feel free to contact the school’s guidance counselor, Mrs. Scharona Grimsley-Dawkins, via phone, 334-585-3679 ext. 2001, or via email, for questions or concerns.
